REPRESENTATIVE ATHM3ITO GATHERING.

Ono of tihe _moat representative of am tour athletic gatherings was held on the Basin Reserve on Saturday. There was no lack of official suivport, and athletes from every club came to do their best to help the mooting, for the proceeds were in aid of the mother of a promising young athlete, T. There wore over twenty coinjjoititivo events, and, in addition, L. McKay, AtintrcJssmu record-holder and champion pole-jumper, gave a fine exhibition, clearing 10ft bin easily. When essaying the 10ft Din jump the hamboo polo-gave an ominous crack, and ho had to bring his display prematurely to an pud. Some enjoyable selections were provided by the Newtown Brass Band and Wellington Pipe Band, members of the latter giving a capable exhibition of Highland dancing. Results:—
