STOLE THE BABY.
A thief entered a house m tho Rue dc Perolies, at Fribourg, and as he could find neither money nor goods to take away, he carried off tho baby. Before doing so he wrote a note: —“X am taking awav vour baby because there was nothing else to lake. You will have to buy it back." Just as ho was leaving tho house the baby's nine-year-old sister, who had been playing in the street, appeared and gave the alarm. The housebreaker ran, but was captured by some neighbours, and the baby rescued.
