The Copenhagen oflicAxl quotation is 2 kroner?* (about 2s 3d) per cwt lower. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for week ending, 4Mi instant amounted to 70,000 cwt, a« compared with 91,000 cwt for the corresponding week of 1907. showing a decrease of £4,000 cwt. Salted 108 s; uncalled 110 s. Frozen ’Meat—The deirAmd for Jamb continues, and the market is firmer. The market for mutton is firmer and the demand continues. There is less demand for boef, but prices are firmer. Our quotations for New Zealand d Roriptjonn are:—l’rime crossbred lamb, Ouitcrbury heavy sijd, light sgd; prime crossbred lamb, North inland heavy lid, light aid; prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury heavy ltd. light l*d; prime crossbred mutton, North Island heavy 8-jd, light 44d; prime ox beef, fores 3Jcl, hinds 4d. ’Rabbit Skins—Fair to good qualities, higher by id per lb. Other descriptions are higher by $d per lb. Out of an offering of 1892 bales’, 1505 Dales were sold. Tallow—Since our last advices prime mutton, tallow is Gel per cwt higher. Mixed, good to prime, at par to 3d per cwt higher. Low and inferior descriptions arc a shade easier. Hides—Market dull. Leather —Market Is a shado easier. Basils in general are lower by id per lb. CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN MARKET. PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, April 10. The local grain market has now reached" a stagnant condition and very little business is being done. Sales recorded include 14,000 bushels of Tuscan and Hunter wheat at 'ls 4d, country stations; 1000 to 2000 bushels of Hunters at 4s 4d, Christchurch; 2000 bushels of Gallons at Bs 3ld. Potatoes are becoming plentiful, and are quoted at from «£3 15s to «£4. WOOL, SKIN, AND HIDES. Sales of wool, skins, and hide© were hold at Wellington yesterday by Levin and Co., Murray, Roberts and Co., ‘the N.Z.L. and M.A. Co., Dalgety and Co., and Abraham and Williams. Prices were about equal to the previous sales. Quotations: — Wool—Medium crossbred 4Jd to sd, inferior 3d to 4d, lambs wool 4d to sd, pieces 2d to 3d, locks Id to 2d. Skins—Fine crossbreds sd« to 55(1, crossbreds 84d to 54d, dead skins,;Bd to BJd, dead hogget© to did, dry pelts 2d to 2id, lambskins 4d to 4-id, green pelts 2s to 2s Bd, green lambs (woolly) 2s to 2s Bel, green lamb pelts Is to Is 7d. Speculation on tho Stock Exchange yesterday was unusually active, various parcels of shares changing hands. In the mining section.. Talismans /received come attention, selling at £2 13s 3d. the closing price being sixpence advance on that figure. Grand Junctions were quit-ted-at £1 16s 9d, sellers subsequently holding for £1 IBs. Waihis stand at £9 9s, with buyers at half-a-crown leas. There were offers for Big Rivors at 17s 6d; Sales In other shares were numerous. Christchurch Meats went at £lO 7s.
