Probably the oldest of.Jfing Edward’s is to be found in Elharn 11 orkhouse, Folkestone, m the person ot George Keel, who'had reached his 108th year. In . a letter received : recently « relative living at Sandwich it is istatod that the aged inmate’s health is good, that he can see to read, and that he could walk six miles easily if allowcd to do so. His only failing is deafness. Otherwise his facilities are unimpaured. Keel was bom at ' Manton, Marlborough, m 1800. At the age of 18 ho .was sent on to the Downs to min’d sheep, and he followed the occupation of a . s kcpherd until he reached the ripe age oi So, when ho gave up that employment. For several years afterwards, however, ho supported himself by .loiug gardening work. Keel was married at Twirron Church. Batn. m 1830, and his wife died in 1892.
