AMERICAS RAILWAY METHODS.
An article in the “Atlantic Monthly” entitled "Confessions of a Railroad Sigiialnirn” helps to explain the long death-roll on American railways. According to the -writer, no attention is paid to the caution signal if the track clear e. railo or «o ahead, and the driver trusts to luck to be able to pull up suddenly if there should be need. Further, there is no "out on the road" supervision of tho railways. Managers are therefore compelled to depend on the reports of employees for any news of tho violation of rules by their fellows.' with the result that ‘‘‘negligence of all kinds is practically unchecked,”
