(From Onr Own Correspondent.) MASTERTON, April 9.
A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held at Masterton to-day before Mr W. P. James, S.M. Frank Price, bushfeller, sued Hugh Campbell, farmer, of Mt. Bruce, for .£2O 17s, balance of money alleged to bo due on a bushfelling contract, defendant counter-claiming ,£li 16s for non-comple-tion of contract. Judgment was for plaintiff for £l2 and also on the counterclaim. J. Dean sued F. Meredith for ■.£75, value of a horse plaintiff alleged was his and was sold defendant by plaintiff’s father. The Magistrate hold that no strict gift by the father to plaintiff was proved, and found for defen T dant with costs. ‘ .... At a sitting of the Arbitration Court at Masterton to-day evidence was taken in tho bakers' dispute. Only two witnesses were called, one by each side. The annual meeting of tho Wairarapa Hockey Association was held at Mastorton to-night. The following officers were elected for tho year:—Prsident, Mr A. C. Major; vice-presidents. Dr Bey and Mr W. Moore; secretary, Mr A. C. Pragnell; treasurer, Mr W. L, S. Nicol; vicepresident, N.Z.H.A., Mr W. E. Burling. It was decided to form senior and junior competitions, seniors to consist of Carterton and all Masterton clubs, -ana juniors of Featherston, Martinborough, Greytown and Carterton B. Mr Bannin, Carterton, promised a banner for junior competitions. CARTERTON> April 9 .
Captain Rogers, of the General Instructional Staff, inspected tho volunteers here last evening, and expressed himself highly satisfied with the uniforms and cquipGoorge Groves was remanded from here to-day to Masterton on a charge of forgery.
