Tho stormier Star of Japan, on route to Australia and New Zealand, is reported to bo badly stranded on a reef near Dakar,, Cope V.ordo. Tho crew are safe. The cargo has been reinsured at a premium of eighty guineas* It is estimated that a quarter of * million is at stake. SYDNEY, April 9. The Underwriters’ Association hat received advice of the stranding of tin Star of Japan. The vessel was bring ing a heavy cargo for Australian an( New Zealand ports.
Tlio Star of Japan, owned by the Btai Line, Xjtd., is a stool. screw steamer of .-yi tons, built two years ago by Workman, and Co., Bsfaat. She left London on March 24th for Australia, Auckland, Napier, and Wellington.
