WHY THE SECRETARY RESIGNED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 9, 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 9. Mr G. Barnes states that his resignation of the ‘ secretaryship of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers was due to the North-east District Engineers’ Association setting itself above the whole body and wasting the society’s strength. He says .if trade union officials are to bo flouted without reason the effectiveness of trade unionism will be weakened and collective bargaining undermined.
