WELLINGTON KEG BY UNION. Tlio weekly meeting of tho Manage* ment Committee of the Wcilingioii Rugby Union was held last .evening. Present: Messrs J. Murray 'in Ukchair), G. V. Bogle, E. C, Halos, W. Hardham, J. F. O’Sullivan, J. Burns, J. Swconey, and W. G. Talbot (secretary')* The Lower Hull Borough Council wroto granting tho union permission to uso the Hutt Recreation Ground for tho season ending August 31st at a rental of £2s.—Accepted subject to flight alterations in the*' conditions forwarded.

Entries for the various competitions under the auspices of tho union were received as . follows : —Pctono 5 teams, Victoria College 4, Melrose 5, Wellington 4, Athletic Club 6, St James *5. Old Boys 4, Pcnoko 4, St. Pat’rick’s College 2, Kia Ora 2, Southern 5. Referred to the Drawing Committee.

Tho Railway and Karori Clubs forwarded one nomination each for a fourth class competition.—xc was decided to inform them that under the rules there was no provision for a fourth claas ootr.potition, and that they must either enter foi the third or fifth competition. The Railway Department wrote intimating that a rebate of 2d per head would be allowed oh all passengers travelling from To Aro to Petone and Lower Hutt by the 2.10 p.m. train on Saturdays, and that tho same rebate would bo made on all passengers carried to Lower Huft and Petone by special football trains” on Saturdays. Permission was granted the Railway Football Club to , play a match at Hastings on Easter Monday; Athletic Club to play a match at Mastorton on Easter Saturday; and Poncke to visit Christchurch at Easter.

Tho Wellington Hospital Trustees wrote stating that they were desirous of mooring tho wishes of the Union with regard to casualties, and wanted to know what terms tho union wore prepared to offer. —Arrangements having been made for tho treatment of injured players tho Union could not negotiate further this season. ■ A circiilar was received from the Taranaki Bugby Union soliciting subscriptions towards a fund to erect a memorial in the Now Plymouth Bccrcatton grounds' to the late Mr A. Bayly—Subscription lists to bo forwarded to the secretaries of various clubs.'

The Old Boys’ Olub was granted permission to play Nelson College Old Boys at Athletic Park,on Easter Monday, at 3 p.m. St. Jamts Club was granted permission to play matches at Motueka, Nelson and Palmerston North on tho 18th, 20th and 30th inst. respectively. G. V. Boyle applied for permission for persons playing under the auspices of the Bugby Union to proceed with the New Zealand University team to play Sydney. University in Sydney in July, and be permitted to play.— Agreed to. Sanction was given to the Petone Club to visit Nelson at Easter and play a match there; also tho Southerns to play a series of game in t?J|3 Wairarapa (it Easter. W. Devcnish forwarded particulars of a scheme for matches between the Old Boys’ teams of tho various colleges for a trophy presented by him and asking the consent of the union to tho scheme, competing teams to 'bo affiliated to a recognised H-ugby Union.—Approved.

WELLINGTON FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.

; A meeting of the Wellington Football Association was hold last evening at'the Y.M.C.A. Booms, Mr 3: L. Salmon presiding. Other delegates present wore: . Messrs H. Waters, A. Williams, Davidson, P. Bowmakor, L. White, ,B. Mackey, J. J. Robei-ts (treasurer) and A. Williams (secretary). 1

An application from South Welling-' ton Football Club for affiliation to the Schools Championship was granted and the colours (red and white) submitted were approved. Diamond? Club was granted permission to play Kaponga Club at Kapouga at i Raster. It was decided .to write to the Petone Club asking it to provide its own ground in view of the fact that they do not travel from home. 1 A sub-committee was appointed to make arrangements with regard I o the defaulters’ list.

The annua] meeting of the referees was appointcl to take place on ■Wednesday next at 7.15 p.m. i It was decided to apply to tho Government and Manawatn Bailway Departments for a concession on players l travelling to tho suburbs to play matches.

WATERSIDE WORKERS. ■ The waterside workers .of . Wellington held a largely attended meeting last, night to discuss i the formation of a fotball club.' i Mr L. Jones presided.

It was decided to form a club and to place teams in the field this season in Rugby and Association • matches in the second grade Officers were elected as follows: President. Mr R,. Fletcher; ' vice-pre-sidents, Messrs McLeod and Breen; secretary, Mr L. Jones; treasurer, Mr 0. Law ten; committee, Messrs M. Miller, D. Ronnie, A. Garrod, J. Holland, P, E. Siren, F. Shephard. H. Millsted, B. Brett, and C. Lambert.

A further meeting will be hold this week to discuss general matters in connection with the club.
