MR WINSTON CHURCHILL
PROMOTION ANTICIPATED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON j April 7. In anticipation of tho promotion of Mr Churchill, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, to the Cabinet, Manchester Conservatives nro strenuously preparing for an election.
It was said when Mr Churchill was called to tho Ministry a little over two years ago that only his youth—ho was then 31 years of age—was a bar to his obtaining Cabinet rank. At tho general election of 1906 Mr Churchill won the North-west Manchester seat (which had been hold by Conservatives for twenty-ono years) by a majority of 1241 votce.
