ELECTION OF THE FIRST TOWN BOARD. T!he election of tho first Town Board to control the affairs of the now Upper Knit Town District Will, take place on the 23rd instant. Hr A. J.’ MoOurdy has been appointed returning officer. Nominations of candidates close on the 17th inst- Seven ocmunissioneirs have to be elected. Tiro valuation of the new district is now about £IOO,OOO, and the new valuation is expected to result in a large increase. The district contains 1245 acres, and the special census, taken three months ago, showed a population of 774. Seven candidates have already been selected for nomination by the householders’ committee, as follows; Messrs G.' E. Benge, T. F. Boyd, J. T. Craig. C. D. Davis, J. Harrison, A. G. Martin, and E. H. Williams. It is stated that'4lll67 believe that the first year a rate of Id in the £1 will suffice for the needs of tho district.
