DRUCE PERJURY CASE
TRIAL OF MRS HAMILTON. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 7, 0.48 p.m.) LONDON, April 7. The trial was continued yesterday of Mrs Hamilton, charged with perjury in connection with the famous Druce case.
Mr Avery, K. 0., stated that Mrs Hamilton was a daughter of Robert Atkinson, and was born at Westmoreland. Apart from her bargain with Sheridan she received £4OO for giving perjured evidence. The trial now stands adjourned.
Mrs Hamilton was described when she gave evidence in tho Draco case as a frail looking but eprightly lady of 77 years. She said she was a daughter of Hubert Lennox Stewart, and a god-daughter of tho fourth Duke of Portland. Her father and the fifth Duke, she said, were boys together. She said she knew all about the dual personality of Druce-Portland and in her evidence gave particulars to bear out tho assertion. It who on this evidence that she was arrested Sir Oharioa Mathews Says be has proofs that Mrs Hamilton is the daughter Of Eobort Atkinson, a flax mamv facturer, and he designates the story which she recounted as to her relationship >.o the Duke Of Portland as "a myth."
