NURSING THE SICK POOR
ST. JOHN AMBULANCE GUILD. The monthly meeting: of the St. John Ambulance Association District Nursing Guild Committee held yesterday afternoon was attended by Mrs S. A. Rhodes, associate of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem (who presided), Mesdames T. W. Hislop, W. H. S. Moorhouse, J. V. Luke, H, W.- Preston, 3uss Higgle, and the hon. secretary.
The report showed that Nurses Sexton and Macandrew had paid 706 visits to tho sick poor during March; 16 additional patients had been registered, and 15 discharged: one death had occurred on the district; two patients had been sent to the general hospital, one to the Convalescent Home, and one to the Home for Incurables.
The senior nurse reported that the Mayoress visited the patients on the district recently, and realised the dire necessity of such worn being carried out in many cottage homes. Tho committee acknowledged with thanks the following additional subscriptions towards the District Nursing Fund: -Mr T. W. Hislop, JEI; Mrs W. H. S. Moorhouse, .£1: Mrs Paul Hunter, .£1; Mrs H. Curtis, .£1 Is; Wellington Gas Company, .£1 Is; St. Peter’s Relief Guild, £5; Mr J. Godber (polyphone pennies), .£ 1 Is 4d; John Duthie and Co., .£1 Is; Barber and Co., Jil Is; Gear Co., J6l Is; Mr W. H. Millward, £1 Is; Mrs A. R. Atkinson. 10s; Mrs Grady, os. Comforts, clothing, etc., have been received from Mesdames Tripe, Moorhouse, Ewen, Watson, Kirk, Adams. McLean, Gninsier, Keith, Carter, Young, Davis, Wright, Chapman, Preston, Gear Co., Kia Ora Realm Guild, and Young Women’s Christian Association.
