EMPLOYEES’ PICNIC
The annual picnic of the employees of Messrs F. and W. Forking, builders, was hold at the Upper Hutt lieorcation Grounds on Saturday. An enjoyable day’s outing was spent. A number of races were decided, with the following results:—l2oyda Handicap— Finlayson 1, A, Fear 2. Sack Race— Taylor 1. 0- Hagan 2. Siamese Baco— S. Johns and Chapman 1, I. and A. Fear 3. Hop, Stop, and Jump—Noal 1 Johns 2, Goodwin 3. Apprentices’ Race—Finlayson 1, Clarke 2, Taylor 3. Married Women’s Race—Mrs Spencer. Championship Race, lODyds—Bickerjrtaff 1, I. Fear 2, A. Fear 3. 220yds— A. Fear 1, Finlayson 2, I. Fear 3. 440yds—‘A. Foar and Finlayson (dead heat) 1, I. Fear 3. Married Men’s Race, 100yds—S. Johns. All-comers’ Race, 100yds—Neal. Human Barrow Race—S. Johns and Chapman. Halfmile Walk —Noal 1, Taylor 3. Nnildriring Contest —Mrs Wilson 1, Mrs Austin 3. Mr S. Johns acted as starter and handicappor, and Mr W. Fen-kins as judge. The duties of hon. secretary wore carried out by Mr G. L. Austin.
