A purple altar-cloth, bearing the date IfilT, has been found at the bottom of an old oak chest at St Giles’ Chnrch, Colchester. It had evidently been used on the aliar in the Lucas Chapel, and was probably hidden, \rhcn the Komulhemls besieged Colchester in 16-IS, and executed Sir Charles Lucas.
