A WORLD-WIDE REPUTATION
A widespread fame such as that which has been won by California Syrup of Pigs through sheer excellence and. force of merit, unfortunately invites imitators to offer the public articles not dissimilar in name, hut very dissimilar in finality and manufacture. These imitations and substitutes are numerous, and it becomes necessary to warn .the public that the genuine and original article should be resolutely insisted upon. It mnv always be secured by;' asking for "California Syrup of Figs in full. The word “California” must not lie omitted, and it should he seen that the package purchased hears the name and trade mark of the solo manufacturers, the California Pig Syrup Company of San Francisco. ■ AVero it not for tho important fact that there is a certain danger to health when an article of known excellence like California Syrup of X ? igs is. displaced in favour of some preparation of less known reputation, our protest might be less urgent; but the public, in their own interest, must be protected. The evil is a very serious one, and, moreover, it is to a certain extent detrimental to a preparation of known merit, approved and prescribed by tho medical profession in. every country and popularised by the recommendation ..of everyone who has, used it.. There is positively notiling, nor can there be anything, "}ust the same” or “just as good,” as California Syrup of Figs, simply because the processes employed in its preparation are known only to the California Fig Syrup Co. This great 'household laxative remedy contains not only the luscious juices of the ripe “Mission” or blue fig indigenous to California, but also the essences of certain plants of known medicinal value; and the blend is prepared in such a way as to ensure absolute purity and qualitative and quantitative uniformity of constituent medicinal parts.
