PETONE BRIDGE PROPOSALS.
(To the Editor "N.Z. Times-”) Sir, —In this morning's issue of the "Times" I am made to say that the statements made as to the bridge largely increasing Pctone's rate revenue would prove illusory. What I did say was, that the fact of land-owners east of the river giving «£I7OO towards the cost proved that the erection would largely increase their land values, and that would result in the Hutt borough, Hutt county, and River Board receiving large annual increases in their rate revenue from that portion of the district, and that the expectations of the erection of the bridge bringing increased trade to Petone would prove illusory.— I am, etc.,
