| A special meeting of the City Council will be held to-morrow night to give authority to pay off a loan of .£9500 for waterworks and Te Aro reclamation, which will necessitate the striking of a special rate for security to be given on account of a new loan; to take similar action in regard to a cemetery loan of c£7500; and to pass a resolution authorising the borrowing of .£IOO,OOO (to be guaranteed by a special rate of Id in the .£1 on unimproved value) for carrying out the drainage scheme for Melrose district, recently authorised by, the ratepayers of that locality.
