FAST STEAMING.
THE NEW STEAMER MAORI. PHEB9 ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, November 19. Tho Union Steamship Company's no* turbine steamer Maori has alrcadygivea proof of her steaming capabilities. Leaving Port Chalmers at 7.40 o'clock last night, and clearing Otago Heads at 8.20, she averaged eighteen knots an hour, and made the run to Lyttelton Heads in lOhrs ISmih, and to the breakwater in X2hrs 6min. From Akaroa Heads to Lyttelton Heads the run was slightly under two hours. The chief . engineer is confident that the Maori on her run to Wellington to-night will easily lower the present record. The Maori arrives-in Wellington early this morning. She enter© the regular WoUingtou-Lyttelton service.
