RIOTING ON THE RAND
CHINESE MALINGERERS CAUSE TROUBLE.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright PRETORIA, September 26.,
Trouble has arisen at the Witwatersrand Deep Mine, rendering police intervention necessary.
It appears that coolies employed in the mine were at the bottom of the affair. '
Those who are about to be repatriated showed reluctance to make up time lost through unauthorised absence, and the .result was a riot.
The police used their firearms, fifteen of the coolies being wounded. -
