EXPERTS AT VARIANCE
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright SYDNEY, September 27. The Government Meteorologist says it is premature to predict a drought yet. The Victorian Meteorologist states that a drought is very probable.
It was stated a few days ago that stockowners in some New South Wales districts were arranging for fresh pasturage for stock owing to the prolonged dry weather threatening a shortage of feed. A day or two ago, however, welcome rains were reported. In Victoria considerable apprehension exists regarding crops, as the season has been very dry. Some wheat areas only show a growth of a few inches. DROUGHT IN QUEENSLAND. POSITION SERIOUS. (Received September 28, 0.31 a.m.) BRISBANE, September 27., The drought in the Longreach district is compelling stockowners to send sheep away to other districts where pasturage is obtainable.
