Nichol, who was until recently pastor of tho Ravensbourne Congregational Church, near Dunedin, has .accepted an invitation to the pastorate of tho Beechworth Church (Victoria).

The condition of Mrs Mills, relict of the late Mr E. W. Mills, is causing considerable anxiety. Mrs Mills, who is one of the i-nriicot Wellington residents, is eighty-oix years of age. Until a few days ago ehe enjoyed the best of health.

At the Education Board meeting yesterday, the chairman, Mr W. Allan, extended a hearty welcome to Mr J. G. W. Aitkon, M.H.R., representing the City .District, on taking his seat to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of the Bev. \V. A. Evans. Mr H, Hutchison, chief engineer of the Ilotoiti, and Mr VV. Campbell, second engineer of the_ Wellington Harbour Board’s dredge Whakarire, have resigned their positions, to join partnership in taking over the foundry business of Mr E. beagar, at Wellington. The following gentlemen have been appointed by their respective local bodies us delegates to the Egmont .Notional Park Board: —Mr Charles Gooqeon, Hawera Borough Council; Mr William P. hCirkwood, Stratford Borough Council; Mr George A. Marchant, Stratford County Council. Mr William McDongall, an old settler in the Feilding district, has just died at the age of sixty-nine years. Fortyone years ago he took up his residence near Marton, moving in 1886 to Waituna West, where he lived until \ his death. He was a native of ScothuuL Ste leaves a widow and nine children. A former City Engineer of Wellington, Mr Nicholas Marchant, died in this city at the ago of seventy-one years. Mr Marchant came to New Zealand under engagement to Brogden and Sons, the railway contractors who built eomo of the railways under the Vogel public works policy.
