CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE, The annual conference of the Christian Endeavour Societies of the Wellington district was continued last night in the Vivian street baptist Church. The Rev. J. J. North presided. The first part of the meeting consisted of a eoug service, rendered by the Webb street society. The fourteenth annual report and bal-ance-sheet were read and adopted. The report referred to the growth of the movement, and . the greater interest which was being generally taken in it. Luring the last year four rallies had been held, all of which were well attended, and in every way successful. There had been six senior societies and six junior admitted during the year, while four junior had lapsed for want of numbers. The sum of 08178 6s lOd was collected for foreign missions, the best collecting work being don© by the Newtown Congregational Junior Society, which raised d£4l 16s sd. The Seamen's Committee, under the direction of Mr P. Wortley, did good work, services being conducted on board ship, and flowers, etcl, distributed amongst the sailors. The organ of the movement, the "Christian Endeavour Advocate/' edited by the Rev. F, Keith Ewen, had a very successful year. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory state of affairs, the general ; account showing, a credit balance of £l, and the publishing account a credit balance of <£4 2s 7d.

The officers for the coming year are: — President, Rev. Macdonald Aspland; vicepresidents, Mrs T. Keith Ewen, Rev. A. Dewdney; secretary, Mr C. J. Clark; treasurer, Mr E. Dawson; general superintendent of junior societies, Mr T. A. Bell; musical director, Mr H; Baker.

During the evening a paper, prepared by Mr H. N. Holmes on "Endeavour in Its Aggressive Aspects.'' was yead, and provoked much interesting discussion. The conference will bo continued tonight. An "All Nations'* tea will bo held in the Wesley Church at 6.15 p.m. At 7.30 p.m. there will Be a meeting, at which Rev. J. J. North will deliver an address, and.at 8.45 p.m. a communion service will be held.
