THE WELLMAN EXPEDITION
BALLOON ABANDONED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright CHRIST TANIA,. September 13. Mr Wellman, after one ascent, was compelled to abandon his balloon, and returned to Tromsoe. The last advice of this expedition—published on Friday—stated that northerly gales had prevented the ascent of Mr Wellman’s airship, and it was . probable the expedition would he postponed for a year.
