PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, September 14. The Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union, numbering 860 financial members. at a meeting held lost night, carried a unanimous vote of condemnation against the proposed amendments to the Conciliation and Arbitration Act. At a special meeting of the Auckland Hairdressers’ Union it was decided to forward the following resolution to the Minister of Labour and to the chairman of the Labour Bills Committee: That this Hairdressers Assistants’ Union views with alarm ■ the drastic provisions of the new Arbitration Act, and meet emphatically protests against its being passed into law. We are convinced that if passed it will strangle onr union, and generally prove detrimental to the interests of unionism throughout New Zealand.
