TAHITI
SUGGESTED TRANSFER TO GERMANY., By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright MELBOURNE, September 12. The acting Federal Prime Minister (Sir, W. Lyno), questioned with regard to a reported proposal by Franco to transfer Tahiti to Germany, says that so far as the Government is aware, no ouch proposal has been made. Tahiti is the principal island In tho Society Group, and belongs to Prance, Its area is 600 square miles, and population 11,000. The principal town is Papeete, where several foreign Consuls arc stationed. In 1905 the imports amounted to £119,927, and exports to £114,133.
