MINING.
Writing under date, September 9th, 1907, the manager of the the Wair.au Valley Gold ruining Company, Ltd., re. ports;—Battery—This is now complete with the exception of putting top floor and tables down, which work I am keeping in reserve for wet weather. Kace— This work is now complete, a breastwork of broken rock having heen substantially built to protect the intake. During the month of August the Talisman Consolidated, Ltd., crashed and treated 3772 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at ,£15.335 7s. The cost per ton was XI Its, made up as_ follows: —Mine development 5s lid, mining 12s 6d, milling 13s 7d, general expenses Ss. The smaller tonnage crushed and the higher cost per ton is attributable to the breakage of the main driving pulley earlv in the month, and causing a stoppage of the battery for eighty pours.
