The Prince of "Wales opened dnring July the new out-patients' "block at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, the foundation stone of which was laid by the King exactly three years ago. The new buildings, which occupy part of the site of Christ’s Hospital, and for which upwards of a quarter of a million has been paid, comprise out-patients' and casualty department.. There are also special'departments for diseases of women, ophthalmic cases, skin diseases, aural affections, diseases of the throat, orthopaedic cases, dental troubles, and for patients undergoing electrical treatnvmt. Electric lifts have been provided throughout, and there is a waiting-hall capable of accommodating 850 persons. The entire reconstruction of the hospital will involve an outlay of ,£500.000, and on the occasion of his visit with the Queen in July. 1004. his Majesty gave a donation of JEIOOO. The Civil List of the King of Greece is the smallest in Europe. It does not aceed JEIO.OOO a year.
