Mr Arthur Plimmer, manager for the National Insurance Company at Perth, k” left Wellington for Sydney, on his return to Western Australia, on Saturday. The Hou. W. Hall-Jones, Acting Premier, is now very much better in health. It is hoped that ho will be able to go out on tno first fine day.

Mr V. Meredith, of Dunedin, and Mr Thompson, of Christchurch, officials of the Customs Department, are being transferred to Wellington as landing waiters.

Mr J. G. Darkness, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, left Wellington, on Saturday for a visit to New South Wales and Victoria. He will b© absent from this State for about three weeks.

The death of Mr J. O’Neil, a well* known hotel-keeper at Masterton, is announced. Death occurred from a stroke of paralysis received three weeks ago.. Miss Fanny G. Sealy, L.R.A.M., for* merly teacher at tho Nelson and Wanganui Colleges, who has been at Home making a special study of the pianoforte and voice production for some time past, is about to commence the practice of her profession in Wellington. During her two years’ sojourn at the Royal Academy of Music Miss benly gained tho licentiate diploma of tho academy, three bronze medals, and a silver medal. She-is also the possessor of a certificate from- Sir Alexander McKenzie, principal of the R.A.M. A recent English mail brought news of tho great success that has been achieved as a solo pianist in England by Miss Madeline Roylo. daughter of Mr Bert Royle, Mr J. C. Williamson’s repre% sentative in New Zealand. She appeared at the Brighton Dome on April 3rd in such distinguished company as that of Madame Albani and Mr. Charles Santley.
