INSURANCE COMPANIES.
INQUIRY IN AMERICA. DRASTIC REFORMS URGED, (Received February 23, 0.19 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 23. Tho Joint Committee of tho Legislature which has been investigating the administration of life insurance societies has made its report. Tho report recommends that permission bo given for tho formation of mutual corporations without capital; opposes any further formation of cooperative or assessment companies; denounces tho past administration of mutual companies; recommends tho limitation of new business by tho larger companies to fifteen million dollars (£3,009,000) yearly, and that officials be forbidden to participate in syndicates; and makes many other recommendations for drastio reforms.
