PERSONAL.
Lord Plunket and party arrived at Napier by motor car from ■Wellington on Wednesday evening after a pleasant trip. They intended resuming the journey to Auckland yesterday, but bad weather sot in, and tho start would probably be delayed till to-day.
Tho Hon James Carroll leaves for Gisborne this morning, and will commence his election tour at Rakguroa on Monday. Mr E. Kolkenbcck, of Sydney, leaves Wellington to-day for Napier, and expects to return to Wellington at the end at tho month.
Mr J. H. Mentiplay, accountant to tho .Bank of Now Zealand, and secretary of the Northern Bowling Association, leaves on a trip to Sydney by tho Wimmera on Saturday. He will be accompanied by Mrs Mentiplay. Mr W. Stoncham Short, of tho Roads Department, has been appointed a Commissioner under the Municipal Corporations Act for the purpose of inquiring into and adjusting the question of finance (rates, etc.) between tho Miramar Borough Council and the Hutt County Council, consequent on the constitution of the Miramar borough.
