CHARGE OF PERJURY.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH. November 1. Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, Annie Slccmau was charged with having wilfully committed perjury in evidence given by her in a street-betting case against William Gray, Tho alleged perjury consists in a statement by accused that she had given money to Gray in a shop, whereas several witnesses gave evidence that Gray was standing in a street when the transaction took place. Tho defence submitted was that accused honestly thought the occurrence hud token plac© in a shop. Accused was comfor trial, ball being allowed in e£so.
