The House resumed at 2.30. EX-CONSTABLEfS PETITION. The Public Petitions Committee re- — ported that It had' no recommendation to make in regard to the petition of Alexander Juries, ex-polio© constable, of Dunedin, who complained of having boon compelled to resign from the police force under the threat that otherwise h© would be dismissed. Tha case arose out of the recent Dunedin police scandals. Mr Beid moved that the report, be {referred to the Government for favour'it bio consideration. After a very lengthy debate, the motion was agreed to by 46 votes to 6. The Hons© adjourned at 6.30.
