Dr Plait-Mills, of Karori, returned from a visit to Australia yesterday. Mr T. a. Macarlhy, Mrs Macarthy, and Miss Fitzsimons returned to Wellington yesterday from Nelson. Mi- J. C. Lane, secretary of the Mima watu A. and P. Association, is on a visit to Wellington, and i.s staying at tho Occidental .Hotel. An annual pension of £3O-1 3s -id has been granted to Mr Gerhard John Mueller late Crown Lands Commissioner at Auckland, to take effect from April Ist, 1005. Mr J. Kcw 1 tarty, district manager for the National Mutual Lile Association in Auckland, formerly chief accountant in tho association's head of(icc, Wellington, is at present in the city on business connected with his office.

Miss Philippa Garrett Fawcett, who was “above the senior wrangler” in the Cambridge mathematical tripos in 1890, has boon appointed by the London County Council as principal assistant in tho Education Department at a salary of £4OO a year, rising to £6OO.
