VOLUNTEERS.

NAVALS’ CUTTER RACES. The annual cutter races (rowing) of the Wellington Navals will be held on November 4th, and the crews are now in active training. The members of the winning crew each receive a silver medal, which, is worn for twelve months, and if won three times, becomes* tho property of the oarsmen. There is also a championship flag, presented by Mrs Duncan, wife of es-Command.er Duncan, which is held by the winning crew for the year; hut cad never be won outright. Atkinson, Davison, Clarke, Davenport P.O. Griffiths’ crew.—Gunner Gilchrist (stroke), P.O.'s Williamson and Hepburn, Gunnel® Trevor, Fellows, Pitts, Bruce, Anderson, Lomas, Burgo, /dole, Learmont, Finlayam. P.O. Francis’s crew—Gunners Jansen (stroke). Bishop, Stephens, Robertson, A. H. Davison, Dunn, Kenny, White, Harris Tolhurst. Tolley. Cameron, Giles. P.O. McKay’s crew—P.O. Smith (stroke). Gunners Beckensayle, Knight, Sinclair. Moran. Jones. Palmer, Wilier, Martin, Barber, Lindsay. Parker. Campbell. After the last parade of the Civil Service Rifles, Captain Wray, on behalf of the corps, presented Lieutenant Mabin with a silver teapot, suitably inscribed, on tho occasion of his recent marriage. The corps then had a "march-out” along the Karori road to ifieutenant Mu'” residence,: where his health was enthusiastically drunk, and a pleasant hour spent. ■
