LAWN TENNIS.

WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of tbi* Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association, was bold last evening. The following delegates were present Messrs Murray (in the chair), Spicer, 'Murphy, Cochemaill'e, Wilson, Nagle, Graham, Hunter, Hurley, Laishley, Hall, Morgan, Boyes, Do la Mare, Didsbury, and Eedward. A letter was received from the secretary of the New Zealand Association re tho Brougham Hill-Thorudon appeal, requesting the local association to comjily with tho direction of his association that the decision of the Lawn Tennis Association (England) should bo forwarded to the clubs concerned.

Mr Murphy moved—“ That os this association has already conveyed to the clubs concerned the judgment of the English Association so far as it relates to the ground of appeal decided upon by this association and forwarded to the New Zealand Association, this association declines to proceed any further in tho matter.” After considerable discussion the following amendment proposed by Mr Wilson, and seconded by Mr Laishley, was carried by nine votes to eight:—“That the judgment be sent on to the Brougham Hill and Thorndon Chibs as instructed by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, covered by a letter to each club pointing out that the judgment was based entirely on evidence supplied by one side only, viz., Brougham Hill, and that failing aup lice ti on from either club for a re-bearing before the 4tb November next, this association will carry out the effect of tho judgment!” The regulations for club competitions were further considered, and an amendment was made ns to transfers and substitutes. The rules were then finally approved. A recommendation to tho Shield Committee that matches should start on November 11th was carried.
