PRICE OF PRODUCE.
THE LONDON MARKET. HIGH COAIAIISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, 23rd inst.; — Tho mutton market remains very depressed at prices quoted Inst Week. River Plate mutton is Jd lower. The lamb market has collapsed. Stocks on hand are heavy, but are widely distributed among agents, who are pushing sales. The average price to-day for New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, is 4Jd per lb; for brands other than Canterbury 4d per lb. The beef market is quiet, and small business is doing. The average price today for hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3Jd per lb, fores 2|d per lb. The butter market is quiet, and rather unsettled. Danish -butter has declined to 120 s per dwt, whilst others remain steady. Tho cheese market is quiet, With a tendency in favour of huyersj Canadian. 57s per cwt. The hemp market is steady. Tho price of New Zealand hemp, “good fair Wellington ” grade, on scot, to-day, nor tends £3O 10s; Octohcr-March shipments, ditto. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market since last week.
