PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRXSTCHTJECH. October 21. The various competitions under the .auspices of the Canterbury Cricket Association started to-day, when the weather was fine and warm, but the grounds were pery heavy owing to rain which had fallen during the week. In nearly every instance the bowlers had tho batsmen at their mercy. In the first-grade competition. St. Albans, playing against Linwood. made 76 and 32 for two wickets; Linwood made 41 In tho first innings. Other results in tho first grade are: East Christchurch, 66 and 7 for throo wickets; Eiccarton 50. West Christchurch. S 4; Sydenham. 60.
