RECREATION SCHEME.

KING’S COURT, ISLAND BAY. The announcement appears in our advertising columns to - day of the scheme which Mr James MaoMahon has been for some time engaged in bringing about for providing an up-to-date and permanent home of sca-side amusements at Island Bay. Tho King’s Court (Island Bay) Company, Limited, with a capital of £IO,OOO, is tho title of tho company to bo promoted for tho purpose of acquiring an area of laud at Island Bay, and erecting thereon concert halls, refreshment rooms, band rotunda, etc., whore it is proposed to conduct entertainments of various kinds by day and night throughout tho year. There is to bo a splendid cafe and lounge, glassed in and overlooking the open sea, where substantial and highclass refreshments will bo continually served, and on top of this a spacious and handsome band rotunda. In the largo hall of tho central building musical and other entertainments, balls, public meetings, etc., will bo held. This will also contain a number of bazaar stalls and permanent small shops for the sale of all sorts of holiday commodities and novelties. In the grounds provision will be made for outdoor amusements of various kinds, including merry-go-round and all sorts of novel sports and games. A special building will bo devoted to a wonderful and ■ intensely attractive “maze,” known throughout the United States as the “Great American House Mystery,” tho plans of which were brought from America by Mr MacMahou, and which is enormously popular at many of tho sea-side 'resorts throughout that country. On top of this, matching tho band rotunda, will bo a “camera obscura.” It is also intended to equip an aquarium. It is expected that tho cafe, band rotunda, and maze will bo ready by Boxing Day. Tho great financial success of similar institutions in England, tho Continent of Europe, and America, coupled with tho recognised need lor a place of popular sea-sido resort in Wellington, give every guarantee that tho King’s Court scheme will prove profitable to its promoters, and a boon to tho public. The entrance to the grounds will bo exactly at tho train terminus.

The provisional directorate is announced, with the names and addresses of the brokers, etc. Mr James Dykes is secretary pro tern., and at his office, and those of the brokers, prospectus ana particulars will bo obtainable from tomorrow and copies of the plans may also bo inspected.
