(Received August 16, 10.58 p.m.) LONDON, August 16. Lord strathcona. High Commissioner for Canada, in the course of an interview, said he could hardly doubt that the Governments concerned would adopt tho- suggestions of tho Pacific Cable Board’s report. He opines that pooling tho profits and losses of tho two companies and largely eliminating the expenses of advertisement would benefit everybody concerned. The conference recently held decided to recommend that an amicable arrangement be entered into with the Eastern Extension Company, failing which more active competition be entered into.
