CRIMINAL TRIALS.
PBESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND. August 15. At the Supremo Court, four Austrians —Patrick (2) and Posnikovieh (2)—were charged with violently assaulting a fellow countryman, Lanavioh, at Hokianga. The two former were, sentenced to two years’, and Tom and John Posnikovieh to eighteen months’ imprisonment. DUNEDIN, August 15. Vincent and Preston, the two young men arrested in connection with recent jewellery robberies, pleaded guilty this morning to four charges of breaking and entering, and were committed for trial. All the stolen property has been recovered. In one case a valuable bangle, evidently dropped by the thieves, in their haste, was recovered by means of advertisement.
