A force of Cossacks dispersed a mass meeting of two thousand Socialists in a wood near Pabianicc (in Russian Poland). Finding they wore .surrounded, the Socialists used their revolvers. The Cossacks replied, killing and wounding twenty persons and arresting four hundred and fifty-c'ght.

(Received August 14, 11.11 p.m.) ST. PETERSBURG, August 14. Lenient sentences have been passed on tiic mutineers belonging to the transport Prout. Fifteen wore acquitted.
