HELP FROM JAPAN.
INDIAN EARTHQUAKE FUND. A TOKIO NEWSPAPER GIVES £IOOO. ' (Received May 31, 10.10 p.m.) CALCUTTA, May 31. The Tokio newspaper “Jiji Shimpo” lias forwarded a donation of £IOOO to the fund- in aid of sufferers through tho recent earthquake in Upper India. Tho donation is given as a token of Japan’s sympathy with the" Indian Empire and “our woll-heloved ally.” Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India, replied that both tho British and Indian peoples felt warmly and l mutually regarding recent events. “British and Indians,” says Lord Ourzon, “admire tho chivalry and heroism of tho Japanese, which cannot fail to draw the two great nations closer together.”
