CONSTANCE CUDDEN’S DEATH.
CHARGES OF MANSLAUGHTER,. THE NURSES COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. PB|SS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, May 31. Susan Wood, proprietor of tho nursing homo at which Constance Chidden died on May 3rd, and Mabel Atkinson, nurso at the same home, were at tho Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr Day. S.M., charged with haying caused Miss Cudden’s death by placing her in a strait-jacket, and thereby committed tho crime of manslaughter. Accused were represented by counsel. Evidence similar in character to that at the inquest was given. Counsel for the defence did not address tho Court. Tho Magistrate said a prima facie case had been made out. Accused, who reserved their defence, were committed to the Supreme Court for trial, bail being allowed in sureties of £IOO each.
