GENERAL. Tho application of the Pctono Technical School, that tho Board bear cost of gas fittings for rooms used by the technical classes, wut declined. The Board consented to the erection of a gymnasium at tho Martiuborough school; tho budding to bo tho property of tho Board, and subject to tho committee’s control. It was considered inadvisablo to purchase the residence of Air Bedingfield at Hamua. Tho Board endorsed resolutions passed by tho Otago Education Board against tho yancy of centralisation of educational matters, thus curtailing tho powers of Education Boards. Tho appointment of Mr F. G. Thomson to the command of tho Thorndon uadot company was approved. Mr McDonald gave notice of motion for next meeting, “That a sinking fund bo created for tho purpose of providing for worn-out schools.”
