Bannatyne and Co. advise that the Tyser steamer Star of New Zealand is due at Wellington this morning from Wanganni roadstead. She will probably sail on Sunday morning to load at Napier. The Union Company advise that the steamer Mapourika, from Wellington, via ports, arrived at Greymouth at 9 a.m. yesterday. She was to have sailed on the return trip at 11 o'clock last night, and is due at Wellington about 8 o’clock to-morrow evening. A gazette notice announces that a new fourth-order dioptric light has been installed at the New Plymouth lighthouse, 100 ft above high water in place of the former fifth-order light. The light, which is red, is placed in exactly the same position as the old one, and is visible abont sixteen miles. The Marine Department advises that repairs are about to be effected to' the light situated near the western extremity of Puysegnr Point, at the entrance to Preservation Inlet, south-west extreme of _ the South Island. To enable the repairs to be carried out, the flashing light will he discontinued from or abont the night of Wednesday, ' April 26th, ,1905. but a further notice, giving the exact date will be issued later on.
