AGITATION IN AUCKLAND. PBESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, June 23. Advantage was taken of the fact that ihe members of the House of Representatives wore assembled this afternoon at the Chamber of Commerce for a deputation from the Graduates’ Association of the Auckland University College to wait upon the legislators at the termination of tho first meeting. Dr Bamford said their object was to secure tho co-operation of tho members of the House in tho matter of having the Auckland University College placed upon a sounder financial basis. The necessity for some extra provision was dwelt upon, and it was pointed out that tho accommodation at present is barely sufficient for tho students attending; also that new chairs are needed. One of the urgent needs mentioned was a School of Mines. Mr F. E. Eaume, M. 11.11., promised to again ask, during tho coming session of Parliament, for a return showing tho respective positions of tho different colleges. The deputation asked members for t .. - -ir support in this matter. Tho sugstion was also made that the Govern- .. -nt should set aside a further endowment for tho Auckland University Col-5-ge from Crown lands in this province.
