' After some months of oblivion Ashhurst Athletic Oluto is emerging from obscurity, with a well-organised; athletic programme for Hasten Monday, 4th Alpril. Amongst the various prize moneys offered .are £9 for the Ashhurst Handicap, comprising the 100, 220 and *l4O yards’ events, '£s 10s for the mile pedestrian, £5 for the half-mile and £2 15s each for the mile and half-mile bicycle. All events will bo rim under Feilding Athletic Club rules. An excellent running track is available, for the events at the local nacoeourse, where the sports will be held. Athletes are advised to write to' the Secretary,: Mr li. Gonrusly, for a programme of the events. 0. Craig, of Wanganui, competed at Wallingford on tho 11th and will he at Gisborne on St. Patrick’s Day. J. Todd and C. ’ The Secretary of the New Zealand Axemen’s Association lias notified Mr Thomas Duncan; < Secretary of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society, that L. Berg’s under-hand chopping performance (linin 43sec) at the last Caledonian meeting has been passed as a New Zealand record. Berg now holds hoth the under-hand chopping and tree-fell-ing records, the time for the latter being Train odseo for the 18m Jog. He is übe presented with a gold medal by the Caledonian Society, and both the records will be engraved on it. Nominations for the TJtiku Sports, to be held on blaster Monday, close on the 19th inst.

Sis started for the mile, bub only- two finished. H. Raynor (45) won by a yard from H. Boldt. (93). O. Hod op (20) won the 220 yards hurdles with Monk (15) second and A. P. Ingley (12) third. Morris won the 150 yards Forced Handicap from virtual scratch.
