AUSTRALIA AND COLOURED RACES.
LONDON, March 6. Sir Frank Swottenhaim, ex-Governor of the Straits Settlements, has a letter in “Tiro Times” replying to the denial by' Mr H. Copeland. New South Wales Agenfc-Genomi, of Sir Frank’s previous statement, alleging that Australia had got rid of tho aborigines and declined bo allow shipwrecked Malays to land on her shores. Sir Frank says;—“My statement regarding tho aborigines of Australia is a matter of common knowledge, which I never before heard questioned. They have nob migrated, but have unaccountably disappeared, very few being left.” Respecting tho charge that Australians refused to allow shipwrecked Malays to land, tho writer says lie ralicd u.po'n tho statement of the captain of tho recently-wrecked steamer Petrxana.
