(From Our Own Correspondent!. CARTERTON, Friday. At a mooting of Featherston residents last eveping to consider the question of a permanent water-supply to the town, Mr Barton offered to pay the cost of a.u opinion on tho subject from Mr Laing-Mea-son, engineer. The meeting passed a resolution favouring the establishment of a water-supply, and accepting Mr Barton’s In' three nights tho Catholic bazaar in this town has taken .£l4O. An additional .£IOO is required. The bazaar will close on Saturday evening. A number of Wellington youug ladies are proving very successful as art union ticket-sellera. The funds are to be used for enlarging and shifting the Church of St Mary, Included in tho list of probable candidates for the Greytown Mayoralty mentioned the name of Mr R. W. Tate. This morning, at Featherston, a twostoried boarding-house, owned' by Mrs Frank Bailey and occupied by Mr T. Parr was destroved by fire. Only a few articles of furniture were saved. The fire started in an unstairs bedroom. Both tho dwelling and furniture were insured, but the amount is not known. On Wednesday afternoon Patrick Kane, whilst driving down Bidwill’s cutting on the road to Martinborough, was' Upsized from a dray- and received such injuries as necessitated his removal to the Greytown Hospital.
